Born in Belo Horizonte and raised in Contagem, in the state of Minas Gerais, the singer, vocalist and percussionist began his artistic journey through the popular Rodas de Samba—traditional samba gatherings that form an essential part of Brazil’s musical heritage. Through these experiences, he developed a rare musical foundation, combining practical musicianship, choral training, rhythmic mastery and an extensive knowledge of the Brazilian repertoire. Over the years, he has shared stages and artistic projects with renowned figures from Samba and Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), earning the respect of musicians, composers, cultural producers and audiences alike.

In addition to his flagship show, Vagno has also developed special projects that further expand his artistic reach. Among them is “Sou do Samba – Sou Minas Gerais” (I Am from Samba – I Am Minas Gerais), a thematic production that explores the history of Brazilian Samba while highlighting the significant contribution of Minas Gerais to the evolution of the genre. The project received international recognition when it was officially invited by the Cuban Institute of Music to represent Brazil in Cuba.
Also part of his artistic portfolio is “Brasilian Music Orquestra”, a project conceived for performances alongside symphony orchestras around the world. Bringing together Samba, Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) and symphonic arrangements, the production creates a compelling dialogue between Brazil’s rich musical traditions and the grandeur of the orchestral language, resulting in performances of remarkable artistic impact.
